I've had my GC1710 for almost a year now, and have dug out many stumps and large rocks.
I always place the stump or rock to the side, dump my ballast that is in the front bucket, then get the stump or rock in the front bucket and move it to the rock garden or stump graveyard.
I have two acres of land and it is flat...so the move is a fairly short distance.
Can I keep the rock or stump in the backhoe bucket and drive it over to the place I want to dump it?

If it is not to large and you curl your bucket in close to your tractor and go slow I don't see why not.

Yes. I don't see why not either.

You will want to have ballast in the front bucket, to keep the front on the ground. But, you have apparently already realized that.

I can get a 12-14 foot log this size up the driveway in the thumb

as long as you have "counter balance" and take it slow. and keep it tight up against tractor. i run FEL bucket full of dirt, and backhoe bucket full of dirt here on the farm. due to distances i need to move dirt.

i am not so keen on carrying logs around though, due to "hills" and curves i might need to take. i would most likely tipping the tractor over costing $$$$ vs spending a few more minutes driving back and forth.

look at your hoe and figure out were the week spots are, are the hyd rubber hoses going to be the weak spot when things start bouncing around? metal is less likely to compress and expand, vs those rubber hyd hoses. and in that the hyd hoses could collapse in on them selves, or burst. at very min, give almost like a suspension system to the backhoe. causing it to bounce some and shake about. is the sub frame the weak spot? check your nuts and bolts to make sure they are tight and at proper torque
