I have done a lot of troubleshooting on this tractor. Thought I had it fixed about ten times but nope.. He hasn't used the tractor really much at all this summer, it's mainly a snow mover with the occasional small job.
226 hours 2013, it's my buddy's tractor.
Symptoms are hard to start after sitting 30 minutes or longer.
Things I have done:
1.) Replaced all fuel lines and clamps.
2.) Sent injectors out to be tested, came back OK.
3.) Sent injector pump out to be rebuilt, came back not needing anything.
4.) Installed all new gasketing and crush washers.
5.) Installed new battery.
6.) Tested fuel shutoff solenoid.
7.) Checked all fuses.
8.) Installed new glow plugs and verified they work.
9.) Verified a good flow of fuel from the tank.
10.) Replaced fuel filter and O-rings.
11.) Verified the filter housing was air tight.
12.) Replaced the electric fuel pump.
13.) Ran clear lines from the tank to the injector pump, no air.
14.) Ran a clear line from the injectors on the return side to the tank, (I see air bubbles constantly).
15.) Installed a check valve before the injector pump and on the return line in case the fuel was going to the tank, No change. Removed check valves.
I could be forgetting something but I think that's it. It sure sounds like Injector leak back to me, there are no leaks in the injector lines at all. I had them tested but I suspect the injectors to be the problem.
What you do guys think, is there anything else I can do other than replacing the motor? I'm sick of this thing at this point. Do you think Compression or timing could be a problem? It runs perfectly after it's running and starts fine when the engine is hot.
