Greetings, fellow Forum members:

First post, I believe, so I beg your indulgence and hope I don't get too much n00B abuse.

Have used the exploded parts diagrams available on the MF/AGCO parts website and, so far, have been unable to locate the part I need. There is a small plug in the rear housing where the hydraulic fluid lives. The small plug contains two red lines that provide visual indication of the fluid level. The plug is press-in only, and has been known to pop out resulting in fluid loss. Each time this occurs, I've been able to locate the plug by following the fluid trail back to its original source. However, I know at some point, I will lose the plug... it's inevitable.

Does anyone have experience replacing this part, and if so, could you be so kind as to provide the p/n? When I contacted my local dealer (45 miles distant), I was given a part number and ordered that part, but it was a sight glass with no markings of any kind. Completely different part from the original equipment. The sight glass p/n is 3606585MA1. Dealer asserts this is the only part number they are showing.

Appreciate any feedback/experience you wish to share.

Not sure if lines are important.... As long as fluid is visible (probably in center or above) in sight glass you are ok.... If no fluid showing, "Huston We Have A Problem"....

My complaint was when I go my 1715 I could not tell of the was fluid in sight glass or not, the color of fluid was almost nothing and no matter how I looked at it in different lighting could not determine if there was fluid there, finally uses bailing wire to "dipstick" it.... Turns out it looks as fluid level was above sight glass...

Came up with same part number as you (except for "A")... Sight glass with lines may be upgrade (by Iseki) from original parts book

Appreciate the info. Not concerned that much about the usage of the sight glass. More concerned about the overall depth when compared to the original press-in plug. The original plug is approximately 1/2" in total depth and fits snugly into the reservoir opening.

The 'sight glass' replacement part is only about 1/4" deep at its greatest diameter, so at least 50% less contact with the opening. Worried about how secure it will remain in the opening during normal use. Guess I'll wait until such time I hafta put it into service and then we'll see how it goes.

How about a metal tab off adjacent bolt to cover sight glass and at least keep it in place, BUT you would have to turn it out of way to check level.... On my tractor glass seems a tiny bit below flush of surface so tab may be doable...

UPDATE: Looks at my sight glass again,no marks, is plain...

-I blew the plug out while snow-blowing two years ago, and found the plug. At the recommendation of the dealer, I went and got a fender washer just big enough to 'grab' the edge of the glass and bolted on using nearest bolt. I don't have to move it to check the fluid level. also: my plug hasn't any lines.

I want to be the first to say that this is an old thread! Not that it matters but someone always has to make the comment like its a sin to respond to an old thread. :)

People are funny that way, they gripe when you resurrect a "zombie" thread, yet when a newcomer asks a question they get responses like, "That's already been answered, use the search function." Happens on all kinds of forums.
