I do find it curious that the rear end does fine in UTTO, but somehow the front end, should need high pressure lubricants. Maybe just a matter of "because we can"

Mostly Whatever floats your boat. 90% of this over the top lubrication worry is just a hobby. When real money starts talking, ... well, that's what tax write offs are for. '-)

Hypoid gears benefit from EP lubricants.

As I have said, it's probably not necessary. Both are gear oil. Both will work. One is designed specifically to do that job. The other is designed to do many things.

At $8 I consider it cheap insurance.
