OK- I'm certain this must have been asked before, but I couldn't readily locate the info I'm after via standard searches so...

On my GC 1720, the backhoe has three lines connecting it to the tractor.

I want to connect a 3pt splitter, using those hydraulic lines. I also want it to be able to lift and lower the 3pt while splitter is connected. The dealer claimed that the machines 3pt would not work while splitter was connected. So, here's my thoughts:

Could it be, that the third line is so the open center hydraulics of backhoe loop strait back to tank? I figured that way there was no danger of running your 3pt while hoe was connected? Could I just use the third line (to 3pt) from the splitter and have all the functionality?

I hope this question makes sense, and thank you for your input

One thing you need to understand about hydraulics on these tractors like mf gc's and kubota bx's. One of those lines is for power beyond. So your splitter lever needs to have a power beyond port. The part on 3pt won't work with splitter is wrong for most part. You just can't use both at same time. But who actually use both at same time? You lift. Lower.till it's at right hieght then go to work. However.. I want you to do a bit more research on your tractor output and the splitter cycle times. It's gonna be slower for sure then a gas powered one on these subcompacts .

A member named GC1710 has a 3 point double action splitter rigged up. From watching his video it works very well. Maybe he will chime in here or if not try sending him a PM. Cycle time not a problem.

Just to confuse the issue or take it off track, does anybody have good diagram (or pictures) of how the hydraulics for the back hoe portion of hydraulics on the 1710 and 1720 and how they are connected.... I have a 1715 (no back hoe) and the funky MF sales brochure says "power beyond" is available on small 1700 series BUT the part number draws a blank and corporate and local dealer are no help....... I have schematic in shop manual for basic machine, but its pretty crude and not to informative when it comes to actual connections to hardware (tractor side)......

One of the reason for buying the 1715 was it the size I wanted the the advertised "power beyond" which seems to be non existent.......

AGCO Parts Books Here is the backhoe parts book.

I have the GC1720 with the DL95 loader and CB65 backhoe and I'm fairly certain that the installation instructions used by the dealer were delivered with my tractor documentation. I will check later today.

These tractors have open center hydraulics. you can plug the valve in using the same two lines that you plug back together for your backhoe. I'm not sure about a relief valve. you may have to have one built into the valve on your log splitter.

You should be able to use your three point hitch because if you have the backhoe model it will still raise and lower the belly mower even with the backhoe lines attached.

Keep in mind, the hydraulics will be slow. These machines only put out maybe 4 or 5 gallons per minute of flow.

Thank you for the link but I have been there and studied it a lot, and yes it gives a lot of part numbers and basic sketches but can not seem to find anything related to hydraulics of how backhoe is connected.... Is it connected between control valve and FEL valve assembly or does it go from PB port of FEL valve assembly back to BH and then to tank?.......... Seems to could possible be either of the two ways....In another thread (TBN if I remember correctly) a remark was made on 2300 series there was a manufacturing change to put BH power directly off control valve and then to FEL control valve .... IT give me a clue on how it "could" operate but I don't want to blindly have a couple of hoses made up and tear apart tractor to cobble something together and find I have cause major problem the will be very expensive to fix.... So far a lot of hours looking and no clear pictures of actual parts or routing or any diagram on how its done other than one from shop manual....

6 is to backhoe controls. (or could be PB)
5 is FEL body
9 is control valve...

Just wish resolution was a little better... IT really looks as if power (P) comes from control valve to power (P) port on backhoe valve body, out of power beyond (PB) of BH body to power (p) of FEL valve body.... Will deal with tank (T) depending on what valve body may be use in PB circuit.... And need some really good picture on how control valve is plumbed....

I have the GC1720 and I believe it is Tank -> PB -> FEL -> PB -> BH (which also relieves to Tank) -> PB ->3PH ->Tank
