Hello,

I am a new GC1720 owner as of March 2019. I was checking all my lights yesterday and guess what? No brake lights. They flash with the turn signals but do not work with brakes. Is this normal?

Yes, there is no brake light sensors on GC series tractors. Just 4 ways, left/right blinkers and tail marker lights. Also, despite 4 headlamps up front there's no hi/lo beams

It is a SMV with a 9 mph top speed - not exactly road-going. Brake sensor and brake lights would be just unneeded complexity. And the red bulbs are single filament so they cannot increase in intensity.

Never meant for road travel but they do include a caution triangle and flashers\markers and reflectors. My ATV does have the brake light but no directional blinkers so when on the road\trail I use hand signals. Easy to learn and universal......using just left arm with hand flat out-arm straight out means left turn, arm straight out but forearm pointing down means stopping, arm straight out but forearm pointing up means left turn.

Just an FYI :)

Hand signals... How primitive .... 95% of young drivers on road to day probably don't even know them....They probably think you are trying to "flip them off"....

They are too busy texting, to see either type of signal anyway.

Actually, they do learn them in some cases, because I see them use hand signals (sometimes very emphatically..) on their bicycles. And it was just the other day someone asked about the same thing on my 2410 and having replaced the rear bulbs, I was aware that there was no second filament in the red-zone bulbs. It makes sense as they are not road ready.

Just gotta have that SMV sign stuck on there and throw on some 4 way flashers and it's road worthy
