Hi guys I have a new GC1720 with a front mounted snowblower runs off the Mid PTO, It seems to be slipping and will not throw any snow. pins are all good driveline ok but i can turn the drive shaft, not easily, but i can. With the engine off and Mid PTO in gear ,
seems like its slipping to me ....
any one know what to do next with this issue ? Any advise is greatly appreciated

Does the driveshaft turn at all with the engine running and the PTO engaged? There is a collar on the end of the driveshaft that slips over the PTO output shaft. The collar has to snap into place with some spring loaded balls holding it. Possibly the driveshaft isn’t engaged with the PTO?

Don’t mean to sound insulting, when I first got my GC1720 I had to keep the operator’s manual handy because I couldn’t remember what each lever or knob did. Are you sure you have the mid-PTO engaged and the engine running at rated PTO speed?

That doesn't sound good. If it's new, I'd be calling the dealer immediately.

You have to have the mid pto lever engaged, and the PTO engage lever engaged with the tractor off you can't spin it manually. I don't think you have the drive shaft fully seated in the pto, you need to pull the collar back and push the shaft FWD towards the pto, easy to do of you have the quick connect hanging loosely off the front of the tractor.

Other option is a sear pin. if you pull the cover off the back of the 2360, there are actually two shear pins on the reduction box, I bet one of them is gone.

Well I figured it out I had a really bad clog in the chute, I cleared it & must have bunged up again and just couldn't believe it was clogged, I then checked fluids the transmission was about 3/4 quart low (sight glass was empty, brought that up to level and now power has been restored. I tested it on some big snow banks and no problems. really feeling a bit stupid and stumped.
Could have been low on fluid I guess, in the end all is good now so i'll count my blessings for now

Thank you guys for responding

Hydraulic system (hydrostatic drive + rams) holds 2.9 gallons, seriously doubt down 3/4 a quart would have any real effect....

Hey, don't feel bad -- there's a good learning curve associated with using these machines; we've all been there.

One thing you might consider is to remove that safety "fork" in the chute. I don't think mine made it through the second winter.... it seems to help clogs form more easily, IMO. (Also makes it easier to clear if that's not in the way.)

Agree with Meisen-- fluid level +/- even a couple quarts doesn't seem to have a big effect.

You still have an unsolved mystery. Low fluid did not cause a loose mid PTO rotation. Neither did a clogged snow blower. The guys suggesting a "not connected drive shaft" (with the locking collar not locked, etc.) MIGHT be on the right track but if that were true the drive shaft would soon fall off the PTO. Not sure what you have, but it is not solved yet based on comments here, so far.

p.s.: entirely possible that the locking collar went "the right way" (e.g.more ON to the PTO instead of falling off it) when you started back using the thing. I'd hope that was the case. And in the future be darn sure it is locked in place before turning on the PTO.
