Hello,

My GC1720 was recently delivered, and today I decided to take off the backhoe and do some mowing since weeds are already getting waist high.

I got the backhoe off easily, got the 3 point arms down, etc.

Problem is, I cannot get the 3 point arms to lift. I did get the arms to go down after turning the speed control lever under seat.

I have the red ziptied hydraulic hose hooked into the yellow ziptied hydraulic hose, as was mentioned in another thread. I can feel pressure on both of the lines when engine is on. Front end loader operates normally.

Just for fun, I tried to hook up the blue hydraulic hose to the red hydraulic hose. Nothing changes.

I looked at the lever, and the switch underneath it looks like it is actuating fine with the lever position. The three point arms are loose and I can lift them up and down with no resistance whatsoever.

What am I missing? Or does my little red tractor get to go back to the dealer with 6 hours on it?

Thanks

We received our GC1720 last week and we are running into the same issue. I will be calling my dealer tomorrow and will post what they think it is.

Thank You so much. Please do post the results. I will be in contact with my dealer tomorrow as well, and I will also post the results, so that others in the future can know what to expect.

The problem that was found was that they had not put the couplers on the right hoses. On our tractor the yellow and blue needed to plug into each other. I wonder if someone got the colors mixed up as well. As of right now our three point now works since they switched the quick disconnect couplers around. I am at work so it will be the weekend before I can post a pic etc.

I tried your solution to the problem as my dealer could not get to me for a few days (Its planting time up here), and what do you know, IT WORKED! My quick connect connections were exactly the same as yours. I unscrewed the quick connect connections on the tractor and backhoe to make blue and yellow the right gender connections to be able to connect.

I bet you there are tons more tractors made exactly like ours that came off the assembly line wrong.

Thanks Again

Incorrect color-coding seems to be an issue that pops up from time to time, even going back to the 2300 series. I was lucky (colors were all correct), but others have had the same problem. Glad you folks got it straightened out!

I hope I'm in the same boat. We took delivery of our new GC1710 this afternoon and, to be honest I'm feeling pretty deflated and like I've made a mistake. The dealer had a real tough time getting the drive over deck to connect. We had to keep taking the 3 mounting points off and try hooking different combinations over and over. Lots of wedging, heaving and cursing. The deck is on now, but sitting might crooked. 3 pt hitch/mower deck height is inoperative. After 2 hours the dealer basically cried uncle and said they'd be back to fix it. I've tried hooking up the hydraulics the two possible ways. One was let it down once and not enough to hook up the mower deck easily. The other way raised it. Once. Something is clearly amiss.
It drove over the deck easy though ;) I have 5 acres that have exploded and are crying out to be cut and mountains of earth that are supposed to be moved with a box blade this weekend. It doesn't look like either of those things are going to happen. My sense is that there was no pre delivery set up/check done on the machine and my confidence in the decision is shaken to the core. Forking out this kind of money was supposed to free us from the hours lost to the constant breakdown and repairs we'd dealt with buying used, lesser machines. I'd looked closely at Kubota BX and JD 1 series before deciding on the Massey. The Massey appeared the most robust to me. I really hope I wasn't wrong, but if I could jump into the way-back machine right now I'd have a tough time not going green or orange. If the weekend doesn't bring a complete reversal I'll likely demand the dealer take it back, refund our deposit and cancel the deal.

Now that I've gotten being whiney ***** out of my system, I have to say that it sure is a pretty thing to look at!

Sorry you're having such trouble! But hang in there, I doubt you made a mistake. These are really tough little workhorses; I'm sure the dealer will get it working.

Thanks for the encouraging words. That's good to hear. I still can't yet shake the feeling that it was built on the Friday before a national holiday… perhaps one where the Saki flowed freely at lunchtime ;) Said in jest as I'm sure that a good bit of the assembly happens this side of the ocean and my issues (apart from the possible rear plumbing mix ups) may be set up goofs. I noticed tonight a bolt going through the floor pan, mating the rear section to the front section was missing it's associated nut. A bunch of little things. A few things not optioned out correctly upon delivery and some things agreed upon missing, and dealer questioning that they were to be included (thankfully I made sure there was an email trail of what was agreed upon). I am a believer in a positive outlook leading to positive outcomes, so trying not to let this sour me. On that note, again I thank you for the encouraging words! I'll let you know how things go :)

Cheers,
KM

P.s. I spent a year as a teenager in your neck of the woods…sort of. A bit NE in Campton. Gorgeous country.

"A bit NE in Campton" Yep, a bit north and a couple of valleys over.

My 2310 is a 2007 model, and, other than a few easily-repaired "normal" issues like a broken ground strap and some cracked hydraulic lines, it's been great… until last fall, when the 4WD control lever broke off inside the transmission. (Looks like it was just a bad weld.) I'll still be somewhat ticked off about that for years to come, I suspect.

That was expensive to fix, but she seems to be back up to snuff; it's been a great time & labor saver over the years, and is surprisingly strong for its size. A very worthwhile purchase, IMO. WBB/ijk
