Hydraulic pump failure has been pretty common on the pre 2007 tractors for over 10 years now. Just curious as to what current owners are using for Hydro Fluid that have not experienced a failure. Years ago there was a post about the quality of the oil affecting the longevity of the pumps, but haven't heard anything about it lately.

I've never used anything but generic (NAPA, Tractor Supply, etc.) hydraulic fluid, as long as it "meets or exceeds" the M-F specs. No real issues with HST; mine's a 2007.

It has nothing to do with the fluid.

That's why there is an engineering change on the pump, and the gear it drives. They screwed it up.

It's a MF design flaw that they never properly took ownership of. They ran out the clock on the warranty's, rather than doing the right thing, and recalling them to make the necessary changes.

If you were unfortunate enough to not have yours fail under warranty, which is basically only because you weren't using it enough then, it's now your problem to fix their problem.
