I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW GC2300.W/ FEL, MMM AND AM HAVING A BALL WITH IT. I WOULD LIKE TO HOOKUP A BRUSH HOG ON IT. ANY INFO ON SIZE, AND ANY PROBLEMS I MAY ENCOUNTER WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

When we bought our GC2310 - Sales person said a 5 foot brush mower was a little much for our tractor. But the Kubota people said no problem with the BX-23 series. We have a 5 foot hooked up to our larger International 444, but haven't tried it with MF GC2310.

I would tend to agree with 67ply response about 5' being a little large... I would recommend a 4' IMO /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif You want to make sure the front wheels stay on the ground /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif it helps in steering...

When I purchased my GC2300, I bought a King Kutter 5' rear finish mower. I also had the front tires liquid filled (have since had them foam filled) and had no problems with operation. Without the liquid, the machine was definitly "rear heavy". I don't know if the brush hog is any heavier but the rear finish mower I bought was 660lb (according to King Kutter's specs).

lou, Yeah I agree that a 5' finish mower would be no problem, But I was thinking that the bushog might be cutting some heavy brush with multiple sapplings. IMO that would be hard to keep a 5 footer spinning ... also the bushog is longer out the back than a finish mower giving the added leverage toward the rear(I guess it would depend on the duty rating of the bushog )giving it more opportunity to float the front-end. Just my thoughts.

I suppose a dealer might give more insights to this question .

I would have to say a 4ft mower would be plenty for a tractor that only weighs less than 1400 lbs. My 5ft Woods mower weighs close to 600lbs, and Im using a 3800 lb tractor with 28 PTO hp, and at times it has its hands full pulling a steep grade in thick grass. I wouldnt even think of a 5ft mower in that application IMHO /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
