GC2300 front axle 4wd bevel gear

Any know the trick to getting the bevel gear and bearing out of the axle tube? Tried separating the gear and bearing thinking it would fit sideways past the both in the bearing race boss but no go. Does it have to come out the long side??? Need some special tools to make that happen...thx.

answer is it only comes out on the long side and needs to be driven past the center bearing seat.
