I have a GC2300 purchased new in 2004/2005 that has developed a leak just under the steering wheel that is getting pretty bad. I have decided it's time for a new tractor so I'm doing research into that but I was wondering if anyone had any info about this issue. Looks like it's just a seal or a gasket that leaks but I'm not about to get into it since I plan to trade the GC2300 in on the new tractor. Still, I am curious about what it would require to repair this if anyone knows. Thanks.:)

There have been numerous posts/threads about this, if it's the same: The steering wheel makes for too good a handle to aid in climbing up -- problem is, the steering mechanism is completely hydraulically operated, and the "valves," if you will, in the steering mechanism (under the steering wheel), will begin to leak after the repeated stress of using it as a grab bar.

Solution, and it's not too bad an operation, as I understand it (I have yet to need this done to my 2310), is to rebuild the seals in the steering mechanism. Do a search and there are some pics, IIRC.

Yup;
The "use the steering wheel as a handle" issue :( Fixable but preventable.
