I have read a few post about the GC2310 TLB and it has raised a few questions for me. I am currently talking with a dealer who has one that he said he got at the end of 2005. One of the post I read said: "The 2005 has a tachometer, the exhaust is ported to the right, it has a higher back seat, and the rear warning lights are mounted higher. The 2005 FEL for it comes with a joy stick cover and the grill guard doesn't have to be moved in order to open the hood. Plus it has the letters "MF" cut into it." I also read in a post that there were three hydrualic lines going to the new backhoe. I know this model doesn't have a tach (it has an hour counter); it doesn't have a plastic joystick cover; I didn't check the exhaust or the backhoe for a third line; I'm not sure if the back of the seat is highter, but I think the grill had MF in it. He is offering it at $15500. The main thing I noticed and ask about was the missing tach because the GC2300 he had in the back in the crate had one. He said that he could order another tractor and it would cost about $700 more, and the freight would be a little more. How can I tell what year it is? Are the changes worth the extra money.

I say-who cares what year it is. Its more important that it has all the features you are looking for. I got my 2310 TLB in June of 05. It has a Tach and exhaust to the right, but not the joystick cover and 3rd backhoe line. Tractors aren't like cars, manufactures add stuff throughout the year, so again its not the "year" that matters.
I wouldn't bother with what year it is, simply keep looking till you find one that has the tach, new grill guard, joystick cover and 3rd hydro line, and yes I would spend a few hundred extra for these things. I would also shop at other dealers to make sure this dealer isn't jacking up the price so you buy a less desirable tractor instead of the new and improved version. By the way, I also noticed the latest TLBs have wider "footpads" for the backhoe. Hope this was helpful.

The year model may be of concern to the insurance company for the insured value. I know State Farm asked me what year model my GC2300 was.

In reference to the production date of a tractor, well, the best way to find out is to have a dealer contact Massey Ferguson with the serial number, however, my research revealed that production year of a tractor can be determined by the first letters in the serial number. I.e., J='00, K='01, L='02, M='03, N='04, They skipped O and went to P but changed the format of the letters. J(P)A P='05.

Also, from personal observation, Massey Ferguson isn't too consistent when putting parts on a tractor. I have located some accessory parts such as the Joy Stick cover and an electronic tachometer, which can be located within this forum.

Thanks for the replies. I was mainly looking for a reference point for the differences in the machines. I called around to different dealers to see if they had the newer (2006) model. No one had one. The dealer I had been speaking with gave me a price that I couldn't refuse ($14,700) on the older one. I figured with the difference in the price I could buy a tach, FEL joystick cover, seat, grill guard, etc. and I still come out to the good. The one thing missing would be the third line going to the backhoe. I think I can live without those things for now.

So I took delivery of it one night last week. Of course it rained the next day. I did get to play with it some and took the FEL and backhoe off, changed the Ag tires to the turf tires and waited for the dry day to try it out. The 60" MMM is the heat. I cut the back yard in about 30 minutes when it did take over an hour with the 42" murray that kept breaking down on me. Overall I'm impressed.

I'm glad to have this site where we can go to share information about our Massey. GC2310 TLB, 60" MMM, Ag and Turf tires, and 4' box blade.

Did the $14,700 include the MMM,Turf tires and box blade or were they extra??? What size hoe bucket did you get 10 or 12 inch? We have GC2310 TLB (2004) and really like it alot. Only thing I added was a toothbar on the FEL - improves digging. Enjoy.................

That was just for the tractor. The whole package together was $16800 for the 60" MMM, 4' box blade, and extra turf tires before taxes. It had a 12" bucket. Tax and all it was cheaper than the next dealer without the extra tires and before tax. I was looking at the 54" mulching deck and the dealer talked me into the 60. He is going to get me some gator mulching blades for it. I didn't know there was a toothbar for the FEL. Whats the cost for that? I have a lot of digging to do and hills to move, it may come in handy.

I have previously looked for the Gator mulching blades for the 60" MMM but was unsucessful (some were close and prob. would work). If your dealer gets them for you, please post the part #.

TIA

The dealer told me Gator was supposed to have one out for our mowers by mid summer. He gave me a choice of first service or the blades, I chose the blades and decided to wait. He said if they didnt' have them then he would just give me some of the replacement blades. I'll post a part number as soon as I get one.
