GC2400 Power issues

Hi All,

New to the forum. I own a GC2400 that was purchased new and is now two years old. Coincidently it just hit 100hrs but unfortunately I just noticed an issue. The tractor seems to be loosing power after running for a short period of time. It 'sloosing power (RPM drop) to the point that I am struggling to cut grass that is only about 6" high and this is going as slow as possible.

I've done a quick check and oil levels(oil and hydraulic) fluids are fine as is the air filter. I'm at a loss as to the cause and the next steps I should take to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the fuel filter? It could have trash in it causing your low power issue.

Not yet, but will shortly. Something I did notice is that after letting the tractor sit for 2.5hrs and then using it seemed better, not sure why but it did.

Replace the fuel filter. My bet is it will be fixed.

And when you replace the fuel filter..........if it seems a little slimy, treat for algae in the fuel. And be sure to check the air filter.

After all that, run it wide open..........and put a good load on it just in case the muffler is getting plugged up with soot . Best done at night, or low light conditions if possible, and watch for sparks coming out of the muffler. Running at low RPM's with little load on the engine causes this on diesels.
