I'm grading a new foundation and will need a lot of fill. I used the FEL this weekend on a couple of truck loads of fill. It worked well but I'd like to try a box blade. Wondering what size people out there are using. I read threads that said 48" but I saw a few comments saying that they thought they could get a away with a 5'. Any comments?

Thanks

I would say it depends on if you have hills or not, I have a 48" and full of gravel I cannot drag it up the driveway, unless I fill the loader too! I have to lift it to dump some gravel every once in a while.

Welcome to TBN, I have a 48" box blade that weighs 275# and it works great. Only down part to it is that the color is green,. KC :thumbsup:

At least green and red go together.

Mine is that hideous orange color. :yuck:

You'll probably be just as productive with a 4' for the job at hand, and a 5' will be too big if you were trying to do any real engaging of the ground.

You should check out our Xtreme duty compact boxblades that we designed for tractors just like yours. They feature a welded heavy duty a-frame with clevis hitch, dual reversible USA made cutting edges and reinforced corners to prevent wear. They're also painted with construction yellow so they won't clash nearly as bad as green or orange!! The 48" is here on our website. For those that need the extra width that is still manageable with a small compact tractor, our 60" Xtreme duty compact boxblade is designed with 4 shanks to minimize the load on your tractor. All of our blades ship free within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC and are generally very reasonable even if you're outside of our free shipping zone.
