The outrigger hose and the hose to the cylinder inside the boom both just blew out when I hooked my tractor up to it (2008 GC2410 with CB05 backhoe). Are the ¼ hydraulic hose fittings that connect to the outriggers and other hydraulic cylinders ¼ JIC fittings, or JIS, or something altogether different? Pirtek wants a pretty penny, so I noticed quite a few people have been using online custom made places. Going to replace both hoses inside the boom since it appears I need to remove the cylinder to replace them (please correct me if I'm wrong about needing to remove the cylinder). Since it is tucked away and hard to get to, also going to go with something a little more abrasion resistant like the Hydraulax Tough hydraulic hose. For stuff that isn't so hard to get to, I can probably get away with a cheaper 2-wire hose.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

been lucky so far, haven't blown any hoses yet, but I'm getting up into that ballpark as far as age and hours goes.

definitely interested to hear what you find out.

Not sure about the threaded connectors… but I've blown a couple hoses and by far the fastest & cheapest way for me was to go to a local hydraulics shop and have them make up new hoses. Just pull yours off and take it in; they should be able to match the fittings. Replacement hoses were also quite a bit thicker than the OEM ones.

Thanks Irving, that's exactly what I did for one hose so far. I had them make a 4ft hose for the outrigger and it was almost $48. Don't get me wrong, it is far superior to the OEM one it replaced, but a $1/inch seems a bit excessive. If it is just one hose every once in a while, I'll run to the local shop, but after inspecting the lines on my FEL and backhoe, it seems like I'm going to replacing more soon. I can get a custom one online for less than half of what I paid. I'm going to swing by Tractor Supply tonight and buy a 1/4 female JIC fitting for a few dollars to see if it fits...then I'll at least know.

I still need to get the other one off the cylinder inside the boom...likely weekend project.

That does sound expensive. I don't believe the hoses I replaced were nearly that much.

One thing I did do, while at the shop, was to have them make up three 24" "extensions" so I could hook them up to --and leave them on-- the backhoe. That way, I can back up to the BH, stop with plenty of room to get between the tractor & the BH, and make the hydraulic connections. Made life a LOT easier when getting the BH back on! If you have an online (and less expensive source) for these things, I'd highly recommend getting those three extension hoses.

The extensions do sound like a good idea...

I did find out that the flared fittings on the backhoe are: JIC 37*, 3/8 tube size, 06 Dash, 9/16-18 thread, male OD 9/16, female ID 17/32. The 1/4 JIC (-04) was to small, but the 3/8 JIC (-06) is correct.

Can I assume that my 1715 has the same size hydraulic hoses to run the FEL?

I am going to try and hook up a JD 7000 4 row corn planter to my tractor, but I need to connect the hydraulic ram on the planter to the tractor. Once I get the hydraulic lines figured out, I'll be very curious if this little tractor will be able to pull the planter while engaged.

You can assume what you want, but you know what they say about assumptions. If I had to guess, I would say yes, but I really have no idea.

If you go to the discount hydraulics website, they have a fittings guide you can download for free. This is where I pulled the info posted above. Then take your Vernier caliper (everyone should have a slide caliper, right?), you can measure the internal or external dimensions and compare it to the sizes reported in the guide.
