What is in the front axle of your Kioti??? My manual says to put gear oil in, but I swear it had Hydralic fluid in it when I drained it. I haven't put anything back in yet,,,, waiting to hear from other owners.

RedDog,
I don't know what is in my DK now(I haven't changed it yet).
But I will be putting 90 weight gear oil back in it.

My manual says gear oil as well and the is what I will be "feeding" it unless someone finds out for sure it is different. What about the sight level? The manual says to check but doesn not say where it should be top of the clear window, bottm, middle?

RedDog, it's gear oil. I think the Korean gear oil just smells better. They may break in with Hydro but, gear oil is what goes in the axle.

RedDog,I couldn't agree with you more,it would make sense since the rear has hyphoid gears, same as the front so why shouldn't it work.
I posed this question to Kioti and Iam waiting for their reply,I'll let you know..........Mike

kodiac,
If the fluid is anywhere in the site glass it is fine.
Just don't go way over or under the glass.
The tractor should be fairly level when checking the fluid.

Reddog, I changed mine had a hell of a time getting it to drain. After I opened all holes it came out alright. Mine was gear oil and I put gear oil back in up to the middle of the sight glass. I suppose hyd. oil would work but the manual says gear oil so that's what I did.

I am leaning towards putting the fluid in it. I will ask my dealer what he has been using.

I'm getting a new quick attach plate,,, apparently there has been a recall on some. Might be why my bucket wouldn't stay on. I was hoping it would be the bucket, not the plate /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

Mike,

The DK 40 rear axle is lubricated with the fluid from the transmission. It
is acceptable to use the same hydraulic fluid that lubricates the
transmission and final drives, in the front axle. It is also correct to use
80-90w gear oil, as long as all the fluid is drained from the front axle and
the oils are not mixed. Be careful that you don't alternate the type of oil
used. If you decide to continue using the same fluid that is in the
transmission stick with that oil. Thank you for your questions and concerns.
I hope that you enjoy the use of your Kioti Tractor.
