My wife has the sand hill plumbs washed and ripening on trays. When they are fully ripened she bags them for the freezer until she is ready to make jelly.

those look pretty good, can you post a pic of the trees & leaves? the fruit looks just like some on a tree in front of my place (was there when I bought it) blooms early and sweet smell, fruit looks similar but to me is REAL bitter. plum type pit but looks like ranier cherries

They grow on bushes around here. Here they are called sand hill plum bushes. I have never heard them called anything else. Lots of thorns but with all the rain we have had this year you can see how much new growth the branches have. They do have a seed inside the plum and are very tart but do sweeten just a little when ripe. Several of our thickets had an infestation of web worms earlier this year. I found out what they were too late so we did not get very many plumbs along the road.
