Been fightin' this a long time. I have a 5K coleman gasoline genie. The fuel tank has a recess at bottom of tank where screen filter empties into stopcock. I constantly get water condensation in tank so that water is the first thing sucked into the carb. Impossible to drain tank fully because the screen filter is above the recess even if I run genie dry a little water will later be present from condensation . When I refuel water is the first thing to carb. I have been disconnecting fuel line from carb. and pourin in fresh fuel to run water out, but that 's a pain in the "you know". Solutions ?

After you run it all dry, why not leave the tank cover off?

I service a lot of Honda Engines. I have one of those cheap suction blowers (Harbor Freight) that you use to spray solvent with. I have a piece of hard copper tubing on the pick up hose. I stick it down in the sump and spray into a container to check for and remove water and trash.

Sounds like what I need

so why not just have a spring hose clamp holding the fuel line onto the bottom of the stopcock, pull the fuel line loose, open the stopcock drain fluid, hook up fuel line and fill with gas....

or run it every month or 2 like you should and you wont have a problem with condensation build up.

Some tanks have a small sump that won't drain completely. Honda has a very fine screen in the bottom of the tank that won't let water go through. Some can get through when running from the vibration.
I've seen Honda's come in with a quart of water in the tank and nothing will come out the fuel line. I ask the customer if someone poured water in by mistake? He though about it and said he did have a guy who wanted to go home early and he told him NO. ?????

makes you wonder why they put the screen on it.

id take the screen out and put an inline filter on... preferably a clear one so i can see the progress of clogging.

combine that with modern ethanol fuel and water issues shouldnt be a problem.

Because the stopcock is right under the tank and doing so would dump water and gas on top of genie motor and genie unit. I do have a spring clamp on fuel line at the carburetor end which is where I drain the tank from. It has become a pain to drain every time I want to start genie. I 'm really lookin' for a solution to stop condensation all together if possible. I fail to see how running monthly is gonna stop the process of condensation. I do run it about once a month and always have water in tank before purging process.

I think that is exactly the setup and problem I have. When I disconnect line I still have to stir water in sump with a wire or something to get the water to flow out.
