Starting on a new project - outdoor horse arena (Hunter Jumper barn) I have an area that is 102x220, i finished putting in the drainage last weekend with 4" pipe feeding a 6" pipe that feeds in to a 18" field drainage tile. so that "should" solve any issue with water. I also have a natural slope of around 1.5% that i could probably knock down to around 1% with a days work on the tractor. Currently it was a pasture field most recently.
Question is what do people recomend for the base and the top. From what i have read the angular concrete sand is common in my area for the top, most people suggest 4-6" of compacted screenings as a base. Unfortunatly that is a bit out of the price range at this point. I have seen other post about using the geotextile fabric as a barrier between the ground and the top material, thoughts on that?
