I'm getting ready to work on an old Ford 2N that has been sitting for years.
First the fuel system:
The gas tank and sediment bowl smell like varnish. There's a small amount of old gas in the tank, maybe half a gallon. I just took the sediment bowl off and opened valve but no fuel comes out. I don't know if it plugged or just the gas level is below the intake.
I'm thinking that I will take the hood and tank off for two reasons, to clean the tank and to get better access to plugs and stuff.
I'm looking for recommendations for cleaning the tank, lines and carburetor.
Next, the engine:
I'll take the plugs out and pour a little ATF in each cylinder. How long should I let it sit with that in it? Should I try and spin the engine with it in it? Then change the oil and filter?
What next? New plugs points and condenser? It has no battery right now so I will be getting that. It's still 6 volt.
Anything else I should do before I try to fire it up for the first time?
Thanks.
