I love TBN and all the good folk here.

I didn't believe this until I tried it, but an old farmer told me to put some dishwashing liquid in water and throw it on them. He said they drop dead on the ground instantly. At first I thought he was pulling my leg to watch me get swarmed, but he said it straight as could be. Since I had a big wad of wasp nest near a water spigot and no spray handy, I tried it. Darn things dropped faster than all my years of shooting them with expensive wasp and hornet spray. Now I throw some Dawn and water in a sprayer and nuke 'em anytime I want.

Not to beat the function of the decoy nests, but I thought it was a great trick and I still don't know how it works so well.

i learned the same from a house painter friend, I have used it and they drop out of a hive instant dead. A tablespoon of Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle.

I use Bifen mixed in water and spray it under soffits, in door jambs, along ceiling corners in the barn and shed. That proactively controls 95% of my pest wasps, with a single spray. It has no scent, is water based, and doesn't stain. It lasts for at least a month, but some years a single spray is enough. I buy it from the domyownpestcontrol website. Permethrin works too, and it kills them faster, but only lasts a week or two.

Agree with using Bifen as a peventative. It's inexpensive and seems to deter insects of all kinds. Ladybugs used to get in my cabin by the millions. Now I spray around all the potential entrance points and the problem is now almost nonexistent. Also few wasp nests where there used to be many. It can be ordered on Amazon or Ebay.

Buddy of mine owns his own pest control business that he took over from his dad. The business has been around 50 years. He told me that the best thing for wasps is spraying dish soap mixed 50/50 with water. I haven't tried it yet, but plan on it.

Over the years I have used a few things in a pinch when I couldn't find any wasp spray. Starting fluid doesn't work all that great, brake cleaner works good, my most recent episode I used foaming engine degreaser, worked great. Now I am not recommending any of these but I got away with it. I love the dish soap and water recommendation, who doesn't have that around the house. Thanks guys for a wonderful tip! I think I will use my garden sprayer set to shoot a stream, so I don't have to get too close.
Thanks Again,
Bill

I think you need to have best pest control service. Recently, my sister who lives in the Roseville in CA has found a group of wasp while watering her plants. First she tried some home remedies but it did not worked for long. So rather than putting meaningless efforts, she decided to hire the exterminator Roseville pest control team and handed over the situation to them. She told me about the organic spraying they gave to exterminate the wasps. You can also choose such organic pest spraying for better elimination of wasps in your surroundings. Or else can go with other methods too.

I have read that the "brown paper bag" trick works. I meant to use it to deter carpenter bees this spring, but it slipped my mind.

How To Get Rid Of Wasps Using A Brown Paper Bag. I'm So Happy I Learned THIS

Steve

The brown paper bag method DOES WORK. We had a problem with carpenter bees plaguing us when we were out on the front porch. Filled one bag up with those free plastic bags from the grocery story so the paper bag would keep its shape, and hung it up. Immediately, we began to see the carpenter bees going over to look at it, then leaving the area!

Same bag had been working now for 2 years - no carpenter bees. Now, we do still have an occasional bumble bee come around, pollinating the flowers. But they are harmful unless you smash one. And they're nowhere near the aggressive carpenter bees.

Now, I've put out two honey bee traps, hoping to capture a couple of hives this winter or next spring. Those guys are strongly in our favor, as they are also to all of the farmers in the area.

One same note, I've made those carpenter bee traps that you see with the mason jar on the bottom... zero success. Not a single bee trapped in those.
