Just thought I'd relate my experience getting a Kubota L35TLB 380 miles. Bought it after finding it on line, made the seller promise not to sell it until I drove down to looksee, I kept in touch while driving down in the gas sipper.
It was just what I wanted.... 2004 with 272 hours, set up with QA loader with 3rd function and pushbutton joystick control, softside cab w/heat, two backhoe buckets one a 12" trenching with QA on that end also. Came with a tiller and a snowpusher.
I didn't want to use my truck and too small trailer for obvious reasons, the TLB w/cab and QA weighs 6000 plus pounds and has a couple heavy extras, overloaded on the trailer weight "7k 16 foot".
I found a shipper and hired him.. The waiting began. Finally moving day, at 7pm got a call he loaded it up and was on his way, expect him at 3:30am, he asked that I call him when I went to bed so we could set up a drop off time. At 10pm I called........................
His response, "well there's no rush now I'm broken down in the middle of I95 about 50 miles from the pickup location" he also told me he'd been trying to find a trucker friend to come down the finish the delivery so he could concentrate getting his new Dodge dually to a dealer for warranty repair of whatever the problem is. .....Well this s**ks I thought.
I thought for a few minutes after hanging up the phone, then called him back, told him I'd leave immediately and meet him, seems he got it running barely, and made it to a motel, i got directions and loaded the trailer on got a friend to come along and left at 1:15 am, we drove down, ... I'm in my 50's and I worked all day and was now embarking on a 14-16 hour round trip.
You could say I was a little worried about the weight issue and would my older truck (94 GMC K2500) be ok for this job. driving slower than usual we made it to the motel (my friend and I shared driving down) at 9am, got the loose attachments in the picup bed and loaded the tractor and chained it down.. the next 7 hours were somewhat anxious, but mostly uneventful, made uncomfortable because I was unable to use the ac, the temp gauge moved to hot when I tried, It was hot and sticky that day. The trip was full of exhaustion and discomfort, a rich tale for another time.
Well I made it.... all's well.
