Getting to play with big toy!

Had to move about 400 12yard loads of free dirt. Dirt was from a 78 inch water supply pipe line that went in close to our property. Rented this wheel loader with a 3.25 yard bucket for a week from local equipment rental store. Of course I had it for 3 weeks thanks to the weather. This thing is a dream to drive and talk about power, its got it! Made quick work of this project.

Hard to believe a machine this size is easier to operate than my tractor.

Fixing to give my 14 year old son a driving leason. I still cannot get the smile off of his face. What am I talking about, I had as much fun as he did.

A little size comparison with my tractor. This big boy can move more dirt in 1 hr than I can with my tractor all day.

One of my friends is a vice pres of a large telco construction company. When I put in my spa in the back yard I borrowed a Bobcat mini trackhoe. It was a toot to operate. Then one day I stopped to watch them dig a manhole in whiterock with a Cat 345 trackloader.

I was offered the opportunity to operate it. I was amazed how easy that big monster was to work. And it was much quieter and had A/C too.

How about posting a closeup of your grader setup and tell us more about it? Looks very similar to one a friend of mine has and he says it does a great job on gravel roads. Someone here posted a question recently about working gravel and I tried to find a web site with something like that to direct him to but had no luck.

I operate alot of loaders never a New holland though. Most folks here run Cats or Komatsu. A 3 yard loader like that is a good ized machine for loading trucks from a pile and general clean up work and backfilling. I got o be a finish operator in a WA250 Komatsu. With an IT orIntegrated Tool Carrier model you can get a hydraulicly operated quick coupler it works great not having to leave the seet for bucket changes. For some fun you should try a 988 Cat they run about a 7 yard bucket. What gets me when operating largeer equipment I hate to get on the smaller version of they machine to do a job sometimes it seems frustrating lol.

Now that's a machine ! A friend of mine operates a Kawasaki loader of similar size at a sawmill. He said he was very disappointed the day they bought it, but after 8000 hrs. on it - he said he would'nt be happy with anything else. It's amazing how easy those machines make large tasks.

Glen, I will try to take some pictures of the grader this week and post them. It can't drag much material but it can sure slick up dirt and gravel.
