We have 4 acres with about 75 oak trees on them near Stephenville Texas. About 12 years ago I ran my disc deeply and put out costal sprigs then ran the disc shallow to set them. We had some rain that year and they did great but the drought killed it.
I tried some giant Bermuda seed on about 1 acre last spring and it seems to be doing ok by watering it during the summer. Our house is built and we want some kind of grass for a Country lawn. Should I keep trying the Giant Bermuda seed at $8.50 per pound or try the costal sprigs again.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks in advance,

Were going to be trying Texas tough Bermuda in the spring. Might check that out.

What grows locally? What are the hay farmers growing? Around here it's mostly coastal Bermuda, also called common Bermuda. You never have to water it, it just stays green from spring to the end of fall. If it rains, the grass grows, if not, it just sits there. Even after a full summer of 100 degree temps, it was still green. Dry, but green.
