Got them all over my land, there as tall as my barn! Anybody know of any really good Herbicide to get rid of them?

Roundup or roundup mixed with a little diesel if it is a non essential area or driveway.

Seriously? Dangerous? :confused2:

'Splain it to me please... Cause I got some HUGE weeds in the clearcut area I'm going to start working on soon as my tractor arrives.

Thanks in advance!

Giant hogweed looks like queen anns lace on steroids. If you find it on your place "Don't touch it".

Call your local extension service and have someone come out to take care of it. It contains some kind of chemical the will burn your skin if you cut it down. What's worse is the burned area becomes very sensitive to sun and will flair up for many years after exposure.

It's nothing to mess with.

Most states have people trained and suited up to handle it, so let them take care of it.

Here's a link to a good site with giant hogweed photos and information. Below are two photos of giant ragweed. I can see how you might get them confused, but I think ragweed is far more common. At least it's very, VERY common here in Texas. We also have something called pigweed or careless weed (3rd photo). If you have hayfever, stay away from careless weed when it is in bloom and producing pollen. It will make you sneeze your head off. I've chopped thousands of pigweed plants out of row crops as a kid. Some of the big plants can have a tap root 2" in diameter and bright red on the outside.

Lucky we don't have any giant hog weed on our property or creek. It is only a few miles away, likes to grow in wet areas or creeks. It's mainly the sap that is the problem. The sap of Giant Hog weed causes phytophotodermatitis in humans, resulting in blisters, long-lasting scars, and if it comes in contact with eyes it can result in blindness. These serious reactions are due to the furocoumarin derivatives in the leaves, roots, stems, flowers, and seeds of the plant.
It burns your skin and the sun can accelerate the process, it can last for years if you get the same area you burnt exposed to the sun.
The stream keepers and other groups in our area are trying to get rid of it, but like a lot of other invasive things it is tough to get rid of once it's established.
