Giant Vac Field and Brush mower

I just bought a Giant-Vac field and brush mower, model GM2513BS. It has a Briggs 13.5 HP engine It is also sold under Snapper, Ferris, Simplicity. I think Briggs and Stratton owns most of the mower brands now. I have used the mower for 8 hrs so far, and it is Great. I did look at the DR and Billygoat. The mower has a hydrostatic drive which makes it very to use, however it does require some strength to use it such as turning.

That is a serious looking mower.
Are there skids each side to maintain cutting height?
Is the vertical shaft engine direct coupled to the input shaft on the hydro?

That lake near Branchport looks beautiful, I assume it is natural but it is surprising as there doesn't appear to be any mountain ranges between this lake and others in the area.

You asked Is the vertical shaft engine direct coupled to the input shaft on the hydro? It is belt driven.

There are skids on the sides of the mower that allow a cutting height adjustment from 3 to 4.5 inches

Giant Vac used to be here in CT,South Windham at the old Smith & Wesson plant. They made some great products,many of which are now simplicity...I think. We have a giant vac walk behind mower thats hydro,that mower can really move some grass,and built like a tank.
