gl 3540 propeller shaft seal

My propeller shaft seal is gone and the machine is inoperable as udt pours out in streams. I know this is a big repair as the cab has to come off and the tractor split! Should i expect the dealer bill to exceed $3000.00 for this repair?

Yes. It will likely exceed that number with the cab removal as the manual suggests. This was done to my L5240 before I bought it and the repair bill was approximately $3105.

Another member had this done and the dealer was able to split the tractor without removing the cab.

Is there anything else i should have the dealer replace while the tractor is split?

4wd output shaft seal and rear main seal for sure. When I consulted the mechanic at my dealer on my project, they said they do all three while it is apart.

Mine was replaced under warranty without removing the cab, according to the shop foreman, it requires a bit more shop space, but cn be done. As mentioned they replaced two or three seals while it was apart as the replacement seals are reportedly more robust.

You may find some useful info here as he had to split his himself for a different reason, maybe the OP can provide some guidance.
