glow plug indicator lite

Hi, I replaced my glow plugs on my M/F 1440v, while doing so shorted and burned out indicator light, I bypassed it and all works fine[except lite ], question is , can i damage glow plugs by not replacing indicator lite ??.If not needed , I can live without trying to find one , getting it shipped etc.10 seconds on the key works great , even at 30 below in the wilderness, Thanks, B.
