Anyone have any knowledge/history/stories about this GM engine? My daughter's looking to buy an '05 Buick Terraza that uses this 60 degree V6.
The engine was a derivative of the 3.4L engine, as I understand it, which had some issues with intake manifold gaskets and cooling (or not...). It (the LX9) was called a "High Value" (?) engine, and was used from 2004-2007; replaced by LZ4 engine, which had variable valve timing, then by LZE engine, similar but flex-fuel capable.
I've always thought the GM 3.8L V6 was a pretty strong engine, but had this nagging thought in my head about problems with the smaller V6s.... maybe I was remembering the 3.4L and all problems were cured with later 3.5s??
Sorry, once the 283/327 and 305/350 engines were superseded by new ones, I've sorta been out of the loop! Any help greatly appreciated. WBB in NH
