I came into a Bolens DGT 1700 recently. From Web research I believe it was made from 1988 to 1991. 3 cylinder diesel that was rated at 17 horse power. The engine runs well and no smoke after start up. Roughly 1600 hours on the engine.
The rest of the tractor is in bad shape except for maybe the frame. The hydrostatic tranny is shot. It won't go up an even gentle slope. The mower deck is missing and the previous owner cobbled it together rather than bringing it to a mechanic.
I thought about using the engine for something neat like a ww2 Era jeep or maybe a economy home made car. [Side note: I built a factory 5 cobra that is now on the road with a little help from my friends] but have decided that it might be one project that I might have to pass on. I keep thinking that little diesel motor is the cats meow though.
What should I ask for such a thing? I would probably have to sell it locally unless the buyer would buy it sight unseen and deal with having it shipped which is unlikely.
