Tractor
BX 1880 with FEL and canopy
I am almost ashamed to be asking such questions about my brand new tractor, but I'm just cheap enough that it's only "almost"!

My tractor is the BX1880, and will already be equipped with the "deluxe fiberglass canopy".

I live in SC where we have decent weather most all year, but y'all I HATE cold weather. I hate being cold, hate it!

I've browsed some of the soft cab enclosures, which are really nice, but they are almost $1500. Too steep for me, as I don't have any demands that force me to be in the tractor against my will in inclement weather.

The Berco brand is getting closer but they are still $400 listed for a garden tractor, which *MAY* fit my baby tractor. The one listed for a SCUT is $700.

I'd consider that, but on this forum I have run across some folks using a golf cart enclosure, and made it look pretty darned presentable! That seems right up my alley. Cheap, easy to remove, good enough for temporary use and temperatures not dropping below 30, and most likely not 40. This way I'd be less likely to put off tasks with the tractor.

I just want something to keep the cool wind off of me. If it's successful enough I would consider also adding a coolant fed heater.

I can only find 2 or 3 examples, though, so I'm asking for anyone who has actually used a golf cart rain cover as a soft cab so post pictures if you don't mind. Especially if it's on a small Kubota!

Many thanks!

I'm not looking to fab anything up with metal and lexan, or wood, or pvc, etc. Not that I can't, but with the prices of materials these days you start to encroach on the cost of a readily available cab.

$89 for a cab at Menards. This past winter a few of us took measurements and figured out how to mount the Arnold Snow Cab onto the CUT size machines.

Since the snow cabs are seasonal, the only other place this time of year is NorthernTool at $119+shipping.

Now, it's open in the back. Getting clear vinyl to drape down the back of the ROPs is easy to get. So, for well under $200 you would be good to go.

Otherwise, there isn't must left for being CHEAP and looking good enough out there.

You can look for other snow cabs too. Just hard to beat the Arnold setup and price.

The Sears is larger ...

It looks like I'd want to fill in the sides down to the foot rests as well. I'll look around for a source of clear vinyl.

That one from Sears looks a lot like the Berco for lawn tractors. Does it reach down to the foot rests.

I wish it gave some measurements so I could see if it will fit over my canopy and how far down from there it will reach.

Search a few of the free manual websites for Craftsman mower manuals. They do have a few snow canvas covers with all the dimensional size details.

BTW, use the search up above and look for ... DIY cab

There are a half dozen threads on this topic. Some really clever ones too.

I've seen the DIY cabs, but only 2 or 3 golf cart rain covers used. I like the ones I saw but was hoping to find more examples of that, specifically, as explained in the OP.
