I whacked one off to the right once and shortly after a lady came running onto the course from the same area yelling "help". I couldn't very well Ignore her and went her way. She came up to me pointing at a person on the ground in the rough next to a trail by the course and I start thinking "OMG I hit someone", I move closer, see it is an older gentleman but I am not seeing the guy move and start thinking "OMG I killed someone". I get closer and she says "he always does this". I am thinking "wtf?". Then she says, he always tries to pick up golf balls and falls down. I see he is alive and look into his hand and see a ball. I ask "is that a Titleist?" :D.

As it turned out it was not a Titleist and the lady was just a walking friend of his. She asked if I could help him to his house on the course and I do. When I get there a much younger lady meets us at the door and she is like "dang, he made it home" :D

I've been playing since the early 90's myself. Don't consider myself to be a very good golfer, but I play with a few guys that are very good. I've never had lessons, and don't know that I would take any after having been playing so long. My best advise to get better is to play with people who are better than you. After they take your money for a while, it gives you better incentive to keep your head down.

I played Kingwood several years ago. With my BIL.
.....I had hit my ball off the fairway, up into some rocks.
I went up to use the old "foot wedge" on it to get it back, when I head rattling. There was a rattlesnake not 3' from up from my ball...

..Left the ball there and slowly backed away, told my BIL what the situation was, he didn't believe me, so he went up to check it out, and came out much quicker than he went in..! Lol
I haven't seen any of the three times I've played there but I have heard stories! Most of my balls went in the woods rocks Etc and most of them I left there. not too keen on walking too deeply into them.

I played golf a couple of times on a 9 hole public course in Kanab, UT many years ago, and they had little signs posted along the edge of the rough in several places warning of rattlesnakes.

Friends of mine go to Mexico a couple times a year, and like to post pictures of the alligator warning signs around the courses down there.

My new sand (54°) and lob (58°) wedges arrived yesterday. Looking forward to using them this weekend. I've never understood the idea of manufacturers marketing "complete sets" of irons, which usually only go to 9 or PW. How can they consider that a complete set without at least a sand wedge?

Played the Navy/Marine couse at Pearl Habor one, the most beautiful couse I've ever seen. Played at the Subic Bay course in the Philippines a few times, there when the ball went into the rough you did not look for it, BIG deadly snakes there.

Sets don't come with a 3 iron anymore either. I know your pain. Last winter I bought new Mizuno woods and irons...sheesh.

You want alligators.....go play on Hilton Head Island.
