I was thinking earlier this morning that probably just about every one of the 20-odd supervisors I worked for in my various jobs over a 35 year period were fair and decent guys to take assignments from. By that I mean they usually didn't play favorites, were willing to listen to my input and suggestions, plus give me credit for what I did right, as well as not giving me h*** when I screwed up.

And as far as I know, none of them ever took the credit for something I did or refused to grant me time off for vacations or make an issue about my use of sick leave. With an exception or two my travel expense reimbursements were submitted and paid promptly and my overtime requests were never denied. I did get bawled out or written up when my attitude or attendance was sloppy, which I really did deserve, and the only time one of my bosses really gave me h*** was for something I DIDN'T deserve...but considering the number of times I should have had my a** chewed out I figured that one time was long overdue.

Best of all, I was NEVER bawled out or made an example of in public...praised in public, yes but never condemned. And the majority of the bosses I had were very willing to pitch in and help with the menial work when the job required.

Yes, I think I had great guys to work for...I am hoping most of you feel the same way.

Most all of mine have been good except one, he always took credit for projects I'd produced.

One gave me the best advice I ever got, he was a plant manager at a company I worked for and had been a corporate VP at one time.

He said "Be careful who's fingers you step on going up the ladder of success, because you never know when you'll pass them on the way down."

I chased around for a few years after school, then went back to school, I worked for some great bosses as a mechanic. I moved and worked for anouther great boss, then they changed ownership and that place went to ****. Moved again worked for a great guy, and a great owner, they sold the company, it went to **** in quick time. I retired at 59, work was not enjoyable anymore.
Life is to short to stay at a place that is depressing.
