Good deal on some 6010

Have you checked what a 5 lb box goes for? You got a great deal.
I like the 3/32" size for 1/4" materiel & under, which is most of my welding, so I frequently run out.
Sounds like you won't be having that problem for a good long time!

And the nice thing about 6010 is you don't have to worry about it going bad for a long time, if ever.

That is a good deal. I have 100# of 1/8" so I will probably pass. I also prefer 5p+ but at that price I would burn it and not care.

Yes I would say that's some old red rod nobody wants.

Thanks for the tip. According to eBay I got the last box.

I would have bought some if 1/8". I doubt that I have burned 50 pounds of 3/32" 6010 in my life and many years I was a welding professional. They just don't put down enough metal per pass to be effective. I do have some (5#) 6013 that I bought a while back to use on super thin stuff and I doubt I will use that up in my lifetime, what is left of it.

I doubt I can burn trough it all, either. But it was less than the price of two 10# boxes so why not. Also, I teach folks the basics using 1/8" mild. This makes it cheaper to teach.

But I agree, my 'go to' stick is 1/8".

I ordered one of those 50 pound boxes and was notified today that the shipment was refused at my post office. I called up my post office and found out that the eBay seller tried to ship the rods using a flat rate United States Postal Service box. The problem is he used two boxes to make one because the rod box would not fit in a standard box. According to the post office they can either refuse the shipment or deliver it and let the end-user pay for the extra shipping charges. I contacted the eBay seller and he basically says that I'm out of luck and he will not be shipping it back but will refund my original purchase. Just pisses me off that he makes a mistake and I get the short end of the stick....or rod!

Just checked my tracking # and it show that it is on the truck to be delivered today. I'll let you know what I end up receiving.

Would really like to know the story on this rod. Leftover from a big job, stolen, damaged, etc...
