Good deal on used XG3032 Gear?

Locally they have a 2015 LS XG3032 with 467 hours for $11,900. Everything looks in good shape with very little wear on the bucket and tires look to have about 3/4" tread left. Is there any issues with the limp bucket in those models or any issues in general. I am really considering this VS a new XG3025. Only problem is that I can get a new package TLB XG3025 for $21,000 delivered to my door (before taxes) and once I buy the subframe backhoe for the 3032 it's $18,000. Also the specs of the backhoe aren't different by much, along with the lifting capacity of the 2 tractors. Only difference is the higher HP of the 3032. My plan is to use for firewood hauling and moving, ditching, trenching, building pond, removing the bank so my barn can go where I need it and building of the barn. Then lots of drainage and PHD use. Anyway it's going to be used and used often.

So I guess my main question is it worth buying something that is 5 years older and 7hp more for $2000 less? I'm not one of those people that need new stuff but knowing I will have a 6 year power-train warranty and 2 year bumper to bumper is a little reassuring. I have no way of telling if the used tractor had any on going issues prior to the dealer acquiring it.

For the chores you listed the extra HP won't do you any good anyway. That considered, I think I would go with the new tractor, especially if you need to add the backhoe. I believe the dealer can get a better deal on a BH ordered with a tractor than one ordered without. That may be why the difference is so small.

If you need the backhoe, buy new and lube it often with decent quality grease.

I agree with what croomrider says. Another thing to keep in mind when buying a new LS is they run different promotions every month when buying a new tractor. My dealer has told me that depending on the month, he’s seen them run the backhoe on a $2,000 off promo when buying a new tractor. I tried to get it later after I bought the tractor and they wouldn’t honor the promo price.

You can get a better deal from dealers that sell more tractors. They can put a dozen small tractors in one truck. It’s quite a bit cheaper if your dealer buys a full truckload of machines. He can then pass some of those savings on to you.
LS tractors arrive at the dealer fully assembled. All the dealer needs to do is inspect and lube it. That’s why it costs so much more to add a backhoe or loader later on.

I agree on getting the new 3025 TLB. Great tractor! Getting the BH when purchasing a new tractor usually results in a much lower cost than adding it later.

The high volume dealer that I purchased from has all the tractors and BH's separate. Ordered that way. They sell a lot more tractors without BH's than with. It took them 2 days to "prep the tractor and install the BH". They also added 2 rear remotes and plumbed the BH through a detent valve on the remotes. Far less hoses and easier connection when done with the remote setup.

Get the new one...full warranty should be factored into your decision.

OTOH, I would get the BH work quoted. If it come out to under $4000 (and I bet it will), I would get the used machine.

I'd love to be able to just rent one but for a 5 day rental the cheapest around me was $795. In 31 days worth of renting an excavator the BH would be paid for. Not to mention the 1 hour round trip I spend retrieving and returning the excavator. This is also going to be used at my cottage for new leach bed and other small things like digging for my electric at the garage and water to the garden and barn. For my house, cottage, and parents property a BH is a necessity more than a want. The biggest thing I need to accomplish is putting in a path up my hill to access the last 5 acres.

Our property is sloped but not all that steep until you get about 2/3 back into the woods. I have a 4wd path but it is over grown and barely wide enough for my atv and would like to open it up a bit to allow the use of the tractor for retrieving firewood.

I passed on the 3032 too many unknowns and for the price I would feel more comfortable with a warranty. I would be financing it either through my bank or through LS so if I owe money on it I like the security blanket of being able to get it fixed if something big went wrong. Unless a killer deal comes up for a different tractor or brand I will be buying a XG3025/MT225.
