I looking for some ideas on a good location to attach a toolbox. I want to carry small hand tools and a 12 foot length of chain. Any good ideas? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Here's a post not to long ago that may be of help. I personally would have lowered the mount for rear visability. If the link doesn't work, just type in "toolbox" in the search forums for box.

I mounted a pick up truck box behind my seat, it is mounted on a piece of steel that uses the ROPS base bolts to hold it in place.

Per another's idea right here on TBN, I mounted a decent-size ammo can on the SMV sign mount of my B7400, then put the SMV bracket on the tool box. My ammo can has more than enough room for all the hand tools, rags, bunjee cords, etc. I need. I suspect it would hold a 12' chain too, but that might be a tad heavy for the sheet metal ammo can. Sorry I don't have any photos of it handy where I am this morning.

I like the idea of using the ROPS and a bracket with U bolts. It looks like you can keep it low enough so that it doe not obstruct your view when backing. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ammo cans are great if you don't load them too heavy. I mounted mine to the FEL. I holds all the tools, rags, and chain I need.

Did you weld the ammo can or use bolts?

I bolted mine; the ammo cans are thin enough that it might be difficult to weld them to thicker metal like a FEL.

I bolted it. Just drilled the FEL support arm and used some 3/8 machine bolts. I also added a piece of high moly plastic between the can and the FEL due to the can's stamped construction. Kept things flushed up without deforming the ammo can. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
