Hope it (ice/wind) is not as bad as forecast (1" of ice in some areas)...

Hope you are prepared and are ready to cope with possibly extended power outages...

Stay home, stay safe, Godspeed...

We got 4.5 inches today and it melted down to 1. Did heavy duty maintenance on my EU3000 and ran it over to my son's new house in the yuppy neighborhood in Dalton. My good ol 5.5KW is tested, maintained and ready to go. Used the rear blade for the first time on my gravel road, 1/2 mile, and didn't tear it up......Firewood is by the door ready to rock and roll; but that is standard every night anyway. The poopies are layin around the floor here like a bunch of fur carpeting and they are NOT gonna move. So......Yes am ready for sure.....bring that adventure on............God bless........Dennis

Yeah, this looks bad with 3-6 inches of snow, who cares, but 1/4-1/2 inch of ice is bad news. None of the forecasts really agree on the ice. Some say freezing rain, ice pellets or ice. Ice pellets would be the better of the three. At least it will warm up quickly. Sorta. We heat with wood so we will be warm at least.

We will fill up the tub with water so we can flush the toilets and I am going to run out and get some gas for the generator and chainsaw as well as some diesel. Keeping the Kindle charged up as well.:laughing::laughing:

So ready for Spring am I.

Later,
Dan

Thanks Pine...so far we have 3/4 inch of sleet...with a little icing of trees...We are right on the border of the bad part...they say we will get only .25 inches of actual icing....some to the south of us they are saying will get 1 inch or more...Yuk !

Man! The snow was not here....

Then it ARRIVED! Already have at least 1/4 inch on the ground. Better snow than freezing rain.

I had to go to town to get a kid from school. When I left the house there was no snow. In town, there was a few flakes and I had to get some gas and diesel fuel. While at the gas station the snow started to fall and by the time I got home, no more than 30 minutes from the first snow flake in town, the road was already covered.

Went out and brought another load of wood to the house and left it in the wheel barrow. I wanted to put the load on the firewood stack and throw the tarp on but I needed to leave to meet the school bus. Got home and the wood was covered in snow! The snow is light though and not wet so it was easy to knock off.

I ran the tractor for 40 minutes to charge up the battery and tried to start the DR Mower. We have a generator attachment for the DR so having a problem starting the DR is a PITA. Changed the fuel filter which was not that old and it was a royal PITA to get out. Almost like the plastic had melted to the fuel hose. PITA. Put in the new filter and it has yet to fill with fuel and I wonder if the line is clogged. The battery was cranking real good but if I can, I will hook up a charger to see if that helps but until fuel gets into the filter it is not going to start. The fuel cutoff is not cut off but I will go remove the filter again and see if the fuel drains out. PITA.

Hopefully, if I get the DR to run it will be insurance that it will not be needed to generate power. :D

Man, the snow is danged thick out there!

I've started using non-ethonal gas in all my equipment...it's worth the extra .30 gal to not have to keep dealing with all the fuel/carb. issues...

Glad to hear that so far it is not as bad as it could have been...it's still not over though...

Hang in there (as Red Green would say)..."...we're all in this together..."

Yeah, the first think I thought of was Ethanol. I only know of one gas station about 30 minutes away that sells non ethanol gas. This is the first problem I have seen that might be because of ethanol. I put stabilizer in the fuel so maybe that helps.

Radar shows us as being a medium blue color. Areas to the south of us are dark blue. It is snowing so heavily here I cannot imagine what is happening in the dark blue areas.

Just checked some traffic cameras up in the city and the roads are really covered with snow already and the snow has been falling for no more than 90 minutes. Unreal.
