Just wondering if there are some BX25D owners on TBN that till with them. I'm thinking of a tiller for this spring, and wondering what is a good match for that tractor. From what I've read, 48 is probably the maximum width tiller for the BX25? I'd like to be able to till at least 6 inches deep. $2,500 is my limit on price. I'm thinking slip clutch? I'd welcome any thoughts, questions, ideas and recommendations. Thanks. Tom

Not sure if this helps but... I have a 40" PTO driven tiller (Pittsburgh brand) that I have used on our BX2200 several times over many years of ownership. In previously tilled soil (like our garden plot) the tractor would have no trouble driving a lot wider tiller. Everything considered, a 48" is probably about right. I have used a 60" tiller on a Deere subcompact 4wd tractor and that is a little too big in my opinion for your BX25. The reason we have stopped using the 40" tiller is depth. The tines are short enough that I just can't go as deep as I want for good seedbed preparation. It MIGHT be that a wider tiller like a 48" has longer tines on it (??) than my 40" does. I would measure tine length in comparing tillers.

Thanks for the reply, JWR. The different tillers I've looked at on line, usually quote the tilling depth in the specs. One that I liked the looks of at Tractor Supply is a 48 inch made by Tarter. It says it tills up to 7" Deep.

The basic design for the Tarter tiller is OK but packaging and etc. results in rusting gears either by Tarter or sitting outside in the Tractor Supply Yard. Check the gears and try to avoid the rust issues. There are some “interesting” videos about that on YOUTUBE.
