I found this forum by searching Google for a problem I'm having with a new 47"snowthrower.
This is my third JD. Number one was a 325 with a 54" deck, power flow, bagger and snowthrower. I traded it in at 700 hours for a 540 with the same new attachments. I had too many problems with it right out of the box and got rid it within 30 days for a 720. Got the 7 iron deck and power flow bagger with the 47" snowthrower.
Some start-up issues with the 720 (power flow pulley interfering with deck, leaky power steering cylinder). Getting some "bucking" from the tractor at slow speeds. The 7 iron deck is great! Cuts beautifully!
The chain adjustment on the blower is a poor design. I think either a sprocket is welded off center or a shaft is bent. A gear box there sure would make for a nicer snowthrower! The dealer is coming over today for a look. I hope it gets resolved before the snow starts flying. I need it to clear a apartment parking lot and three 350 foot driveways.
I'm thinking I should have never gotten rid of the 325!!
Best regards,
Joe
