I posted a while back about which rear blade and got some very good advice. Thanks to all who replied. What is a good price for a no frills blade?

For me, the best price is used. A heavy duty blade in good condition is frequently found at an auction. I have bought heavy duty blades for $350 and $450. One was cat 1-2 and the other cat 2-3. One was a Rhino and the other Atlas. Both where much better built than the typical Woods or Landpride (excluding the extreme/severe duty models) When it comes to blades, size (weight) does matter. For most people, a well built blade will last more than a life time unless used a lot. Even a good used blade will outlast 99% of the people on TBN.

I haven't got one yet but think $200-300 depending on size and $200 or less on a used one.

I bought a light duty one from TSC, 7 foot. (Wallace I think) Planned to use it only for snow, but Have used it to grade backyard for 24' pool. Broke a weld. Fixed it and have been using it for moderate driveway grading until I bought my box blade. Has held up MUCH better than I thought it would. I only use it for snow now. Paid $199 for it 6 years ago.

I did forget to mention one thing. If you plan to just use the blade for light grading (ie smoothing out gravel on a road, some snow removal) then a light weight blade is my preference. The heavy weights are more difficult to control the depth and may dig too deeply. If you want to dig in dirt or level areas of ground then go the heavy weight route. A used light weight blade can run less than $150.

i bought one used, and in good condition. it was advertised on a local radio station,
that has a program call "the trading station" i paid $100.00 for it, and it is a dandy.
i have used it many times with my old tractor, but have not used it on my L3000DT
yet. i hope we have some snow this year so i can try it out.

Jeff, You live just up above me. But I noticed in your profile that you have the same tractor I do, and the past couple of weeks I have called and posted and decided to go to woodstock equipment and purchase a befco brb60 $325 but will find out tomorrow. I had a TSC and a Farm and fleet 7' blades for my old tractor and bent one, as posted earlier they are good for light duty work. Hope this dont confuse you anymore/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifWinchester equipment has a good deal on a woods rb60, and they are also tomorrow.

Devil Dog,
I spend a good deal of time in Front Royal. Check out High View Sales in High View WVA just over the line off RT 50 west gave me a good deal on my tractor.

Jeff & Jim: I live near you both also - just over the state line off Route 340 in Summit Point WV.

Another place I found for tractor implements is (I think it's called) Roadside Tractor Sales on Route 7 about half way between Winchester and Berryville. I bought my 6' Linebach landscape rake from them last year. It was just over $300 as I recall.
