Kioti nx6010 loader backhoe
I was looking at getting a gooseneck deckover to pull a cub cadet ex3200 with loader backhoe and sometimes a john deer 3320 with loader backhoe, and have a few question. I can get a pretty good deal on a 20ft 96 width and a 24ft 96 width trailer. I was wondering is it better to stick with the 102 width rather then going with a 96? Also its about $200 more for the 24ft over the 20, I don't know if i would really need 20 but for $200 more is it worth it? Im going to be Any thoughts? thanks

Get the longest widest you can afford. I would get the 102" and the 24' as a minimum. You will want to haul other things in the future like cars, other equipment, ect.

We also always go bigger. So when its time to upgrade tractors you would hate to have to buy a bigger trailer at the same time. The extra prices they are quoting you for larger trailers is nothing when you consider how much more you are getting.

One last thing. A longer trailer makes loading and balancing easier. It also will allow you to take the tractor and a few implements. Remember with a GN you loose the bed. I had a 25' GN and got rid of it just for that reason and went back to bumper pull. I find with a 20' BP trailer I can get more on it and in the bed of my truck then I could on my 25' GN.

Chris is 100% correct, like usual. I would also go bigger with out any hesitation. Backhoes don't take up allot of deck space. They can be swung to one side to save room. Now a rotary cutter (aka Bush Hog) really eats up deck space. I once owned a Rhino SE-7 rotary cutter that was probably close to 10 ft long counting hitch and the tail wheel. It was always difficult to balance the load on an 18 ft trailer.

What are you towing it with?

Here's a couple of pics of my 20 + 5 GN.

Here's my 20+5 102"wide with my 3320 TLB and rake. I've got the three ramp option so when they're flipped I've got a full 25' of deck. With my brush hog on I use up most of the trailer.

200 bucks is DEFINITELY worth it. Can you go any longer??? The first pic is my first gooseneck, 20+5. Then I stepped up to the 25+5 in the second pic, with 12K axles and triple ramps. The extra 5' makes a difference....

I agree that bigger is generally better, but it also depends where you are.
There are still SOME roads with the 96" limit and if there is one between where you are and somewhere you will be taking it frequently you could have a problem if there is no easy/simple way around.
All it takes is ONE cop who's favorite pastime it is to stake out that bit of road.
Yeah, they can see the difference at a glance (-:

BTW, in talking about gooseneck trailers are you all talking about DECK length or overall length ?
I hope you are talking about deck length, just remember that new trailer shoppers might think one where we mean the other.

Chris

I'm in this boat right now, I had a 32 hp TLB, and my 16' 10,000# tag along was fine. I just upgraded to a 44hp TLB, and My trailer is all over the place. I am buying a goose neck soon, and I am getting one big enough to haul a small dozer, just in case:)
