An old Miller Deltaweld 450 with a dual head D-52A on Craig's list followed me home. Got the manuals of the Miller site but the hook up for low voltage is not in the book and THAT half of the decal is missing. Not going to take full advantage of capacity and use my existing 60amp outlets.

Questions.

Anybody know the hook up for 230 with a wild leg? Twelve terminals stock # 902578

What do you think I can run for max output with 60 amp input (450amp 100% duty cycle @ 70amp input) ?

If you mean 230-240/208 3 phase, then I don't see an option in the manual for that. I would call Miller and ask them if it is hooked up with the 240 volt jumpers or what. The manual is at http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o223aq_mil.pdf and the jumpers are on page 23.

That is a nice welder! It looks like you should be able to run it at roughly 85% of max output (380 amps) with a 60 amp breaker.

I'm envious of your dual head feeder,:)

Don't be too jealous of the dual head. Right now it is only wearing one gun and missing the tension bits-n-pieces for the other. Plus I have yet to inspect the brushes.

Spent $140 on wire for the lower voltage.

Watch ebay for guns. There is often brand new unused ones where owners of new welders or feeders replace them right away with a different one they prefer.

I just picked up one for a feeder I recently sold a friend. A brand new 300 amp Bernard with Miller back end. $13.75 plus about $20 shipping. (My LWS couldn't ORDER me one for less than $300). Perhaps no one else bid on it because it only had a 10' whip.

Good point. Odd that it has two reels is .035 (one steel other 304) but drive wheels are .035 smooth and 1/16 knurled. One is stuck on. For as dirty as the outside was the inside was spotless. Fired up alright. I hope to get to play with it soon. I swear that you can hear the three phase smoothness.
