Hi Friends, I have a newbie question as this setup is a little different than my old 80's model Kubota I upgraded from.. The Turnbuckle on my three point keeps loosening up during shredding etc, and causing my shredder to lean a bit.. I have two questions, One, is there a tool that makes it easier to turn the turnbuckle (My hands are getting sore from turning it by hand, and 2, if the locking nut (Or what that nut is above the turnbuckle that I think is supposed to keep the turnbuckle from backing off) keeps moving, is there anything I can put on there to stop that, or is this just something that will happen until the "new" wears off.. Got about 8.5 hours now on the new LS G3038H and loving it!!
Thanks!

If you snug that nut down, it should stop it from loosening off but you will need two wrenches so you can snug it up good and tight. Dont tighten it too much. Raise the arm as high as they will go and then tighten the turnbuckle but leave a little wiggle to it. As you lower it they will get more loose but you need a little slack in the arms for sway in case you hit a tree or something. I would hand tighten it in the raised position, lower it down for easier access and the using 2 wrenches, tighten the heck out of it with the jam nut.
Your problem is why I hate the turnbuckle style of stablizers. MY 7010 has the pin type which never loosen and have the preset holes to keep just the right amount of slack/tighteness in the lift arms, easy to pull the snap pin when you need to spread the arms for hook up and then just pop the pins back in when finished. I dont know if you can retro-fit that type to your tractor but it would be wellworth the money in loss of the frustration factor alone.

Do you mean the turnbucke that attaches to the lift arms of the 3 point, or the turnbuckles on sway bars? If you mean the turnbuckles on the lift arms, the easiest way i know is to slowly take the slack out with the impliment all the way lowered until you get the right adjustment you want. There are times where you might not want the impliment completely level.

A lot of the Kubota's that use turnbuckles, have a hole drilled thru the inside end of the outboard turnbuckle screw. You can put a hairpin in that end, and center the hairpin leaving the rest stick up. This will prevent the turnbuckle from loosening up because as the turnbuckle center starts to migrate it hits the hairpin sticking up and stops loosening up. Both my old B7500 and and L3400 had these holes and I used them and backed the nuts off and tightened them away from the turnbuckles. The nuts are a pain, the hairpins worked well. You could have your turnbuckles drilled if you don't have the holes already. I now have the telescoping sway bars on my Kioti, and of course they work very well, are fast to adjust, and have just the right amount of sway. But the hairpin idea can work for you, and make your life easier.

Thanks for the ideas.. If they keep backing off from the jam nut I might try that..

New turnbuckles are pretty cheap to buy and usually come with the hairpin hole. Also, they're a lot easier to turn when they are newer instead of older.

I just assumed that he meant the sway stabilizers, but this is a good question. If it is the right hand side of the 3 PH leveling turnbuckle, then a little different story. I like to adjust mine while setting on a concrete slab. Just lower the implement and then adjust the turnbuckle till it is snug, lift the implement till it just clears the point of contact and verify that both sides are equal from the slab. Adjust as necessary and then tighten up that jam nut snuggly using double wrenches. I have never had one of those move when mowing with the nut snugged tightly.
