Got Hosta *DELETED*

Re: Got Hosta

We have hostas around our front walk. About every 3 or 4 years, we split them and give the "splits" (is that the correct term?) to our local botanical garden. I hate the job of thinning them out, but I sure like the looks of the area after we do it! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He's using a hand trowel to dig out the oak stump, or did I misread? That sounds like a bad prison escape movie, but he gets a trowel instead of a spoon.

We've got hundreds of them. And dozens of varieties. I love them mainly because I have yet to figure out how to accidently kill one. I'm a green thumb "wanna-be" and Hostas are one plant that I can be pretty proud of around here because they are idiot proof. . . and I am proof of that! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Got Hosta

The post that I deleted....

I was going by a neighbors home yesterday and he had removed the hosta that surrounded the 20" diameter oak tree that he had removed. I took about 1/2 of it home for my planting. He told me that he intended to dig out the stump by hand and was using a small trowel to do this. I will do a picture essay, chronicling his progress if he doesn't mind. I will check with him this week.....
