We in the process aquiring a used Trumpf 3030 4000 watt laser. Myself and the prospective operator have been undergoing training from the sellers. Next week we will meet up with a serviceman and machinery movers to package and move the machine to our shop. Hopefully the machine will be in operation with the next week and a half. Currently we run a Bystronic Bystar 3015 which is overdue a good overhaul and anytime. With the addition of the second laser we will be offering custom cut metal packages for the build it yourselfers. Some of the other services currently are laser, brake, machining, and powder coat.

Is this one with a double table, so you can load/unload one, while the other is under the torch ?
At a former employer of mine they used a similar one, just a 2.2 Kw one.
with 4Kw you should be able to cut up to about 25mm if needed, though plasma is cheaper at 15mm and more..

Very nice. Looks like it will cut up to 20mm (3/4"+1mm).

How do you price cutting services, e.g. by the square inch length x thickness? Or just send a dxf file for a quote?

Right now I am helping my buddy design a backhoe thumb for his JD 310SE. We are planning on using 3/4" hot rolled. Ready-made thumbs that size start at over $800. It would be nice if you can offer a kit with the cut parts - we were just talking about the need for that kind of service at a good price.

Our prices are all based upon design time, setup / laser run time, and material used. Our Bystronic and Trumpf both have 2 pallets or tables so that you can continuiously run. As far as the benefit over laser v/s laser there is no comparison. When we first started in the 90's we had a Weidman CNC plasma / CNC punch press with 18 index stations. Since we got the Bystronic laser is '95 we have never used the CNC plasma on the Weidman again only the CNC press.

Lasers are amazing. I use them in some typesetting equipment. They won't cut me like yours, but they will blind you permanently.

The advances over the last decade are impressive, to say the least.

I remember a modified sign at work:
DANG!
LASER RADIATION
Do not look directly into beam with remaining eye.
