Got me a tractor!

Mith,

My air cleaner just has a metal screen. I just wash it down with Brake Parts Cleaner then let it completely dry out. Clean the bowl out the same way and fill it back up with oil. Never had any problems. I change the oil as soon as it looks the least bit dirty, about 4 times a year.

As far as front weights, you need them!!!! If you can't get anyone to sit on the hood, bolt on any kind of weight you can find to the front bracket. I use about 100 lbs.

Hope this helps,

Gary

is this the screen looking up from where the bowl is or the one under the dome at the top that you clean
both have junk in them
how do i clean them, take the filter bit off and wash it? or pick all the bits out with tweezers
it made it sound like you could take it apart to clean
sorry all my questions, and thanks for answering them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
i wish it would stop raining so i could go out and use it, its really using up alot of space
thanks

Mith,

Yes it is the screen looking up from the bowl. I use what we call here in the colonies, "Brake Parts Cleaner" It is a solvent in an aerosol can that will brake down any grease, dirt or other contaminants and wash them away. I am sure any Auto Parts store will have it. If there is any screen with dirt in the air cleaner, clean it!!!! If it is really trashed up I guess you could remove the whole assembly and clean it. If it were not 15 F out there right now, I would go check, but if I remember correctly, it is just held on by two bolts. Nothing is in the way. If you do remove it, you may need to fabricate a gasket to replace it. Not a big deal. I also seem to remember once you remove it there is not much more than a wing nut that holds it together.

If you go to tractorsmart.com, you can get a parts manual for the B6000. It has a good breakdown of the filter assembly. If you have problems getting it, PM me and I will help you out.

Glad to see you are starting out on the right foot!!
