I got my 35 to run today log enough to actually back it out of the garage and started to drive it around a little. Then it quit. Im pretty sure I didnt have enough gas in it. I got it back in the garage, cleaned the sediment bowl again, and screen, put more gas in it and tried to start it again. I would run for a little bit, then quit, It will start an run for a bit with it on full choke but quits.

Im just real happy at this point to have heard it run. It actually sounded really good. I still dont have a throttle linkage, still searching. however, it is in a position where it has enough throttle to run at and have enough throttle to move it around.

thanks to everyone who gave me advise (especially Jerry/MT) on the no spark issues. I think the problem was ultimately the points which I replaced along with the plug wires, cap, condensor and rotor. Then I had the spark that Jerry said to look for.

Anyone have thought as to what I can do next so it will stay running? i did get another screen for the sediment bowl since the one that weas itn it was shot.

Thanks for the help, MIKE

Does the carb have a plug at the bottom. if so, open the tank valve and hold a suitable container under the carb and removethe plug. The flow should CONTINUOUSLY gush out . If it dribbles or is intermttent, you have a fuel delivery issue. Open the connection to the carb from the fuel line. If the fitting is removable there is usually a screen on the end of the fitting. Check that for plugging. If you had a good flow of fuel at the the line to the carb, then the problem is internal to the carb.Look for a kinked, bent, or pugged fuel line fuel line. Disconnect the fuel line at the tank valve and see if you have full flow out of the tank. if not, the valve inlet may be restricted. Finally make sure the vent hole in the fuel cap is not plugged. If you don't find anything to improve the carbs fuel delivery that then the float valve may be heldup by crud in the fuel bowl or the fuel passage in the carb is restricted. the carb has to come off for that to be checked.
If you have good fuel flow to the carb fuel inet, your float could be hung. Rap the carb with a small block of wood and see if that helps fuel delivery. Check the carb adjustments. generally 3/4 turn out from full for idle air and 11/4 turn out on the main jet. Since you had to use choke to run and you have the requisite FAT, BLUISH-WHITE SPARK, your carb may be too lean or you have an air leak around the carbs metering section. make sure that the carb has a good gasket on the connect flange and that the carb is on tight. Look for cracks or rust holes in the intake manifold or a leaky cylinder head to manifold gasket. A worn throttle shaft can also cause the problem. to check carefully spry starting fluid arounthese areas with the engien running and if the engine speeds up, you've fond the leak.
