I'm going to figure out how to post pictures soon...and I'll update them when the Woods 6500 hoe comes in in a few weeks.

In the meantime I have a question regarding the proper toolset to maintain my new toy. I want to be able to take the loader and hoe on and off and replace filters as needed, etc. I have some older metric and standard tools from my old motocross days but they don't real large and I don't have a breaker bar or torque wrench, etc.

Any tips from you experienced wrenches out there??

thanks

The most important tool you need is a grease gun. The loader and hoe should be greased about every 8 hours of use. There will be a few fitting on the tractor also. It would be a good idea to look through the manual and find all the zerks so you know where to look when you service it.

1.) 19 mm. box wrench for the turnbuckles on the 3ph.

2.) 16" JAZ fuel funnel and filter which are designed for fueling race cars. Trim the end so it won't bottom out in tank.

3.) Vaccuum cleaner with long narrow wand for cleaning operator deck air pre-filter, main filter which lifts from inside open hood, and most importantly, THE RADIATOR FACE ITSELF. The radiator can easily get clogged with dust and cause overheating. You must get behind the battery and clean it well. Alternately, a pneumatic compressor to blow the trash out from the opposite side (from inside engine housing toward operator's seat).

4.) Build dollies for all implements.

5.) Reinforce a truss and suspend an elec. hoist to lift MMM when time to sharpen blades. You need about a 3' length of very heavy chain as well.

6.) 16-18" crescent wrench for removing MMM blades.

7.) Bench vice to hold MMM blades during sharpening.

8.) Angle Grinder to sharpen MMM blades.

9.) Grease Gun.

10.) YELLOW fuel tanks designate diesel fuel. Blitz is a major manufacturer.

I bought a set of deep metric impact sockets for my Bota. Cheap and will cover what I need.

Works well on checking wheel nuts.

1:Read and re-read the owners manual, and look up some safe tractor operation info on web if this is your first
2: Check to ensure your using the right grease for the application. I read where someone was using moly based in BH and they had some failures do to the intended use did not coinside with the moly.
3: The list up top is very good, but save yourself some dough, and use the loader for MMM service.
4:Touch up paint if your fussy, along with wax
5: Additional filters & fluids
6: Additional hitch pins, and clips on hand
I can't tink of much else, its a pretty good set up and should last ya. Enjoy it!

I use the hoist for other things as well. I got it on sale at Harbor Freight for something like $59.99. I am not dismissing the opinion of others, but from my own perspective, that was well worth the price not to have to put the loader on every time I want to access the MMM, then take the loader off again.

Larry at http://www.moweraxle.com sells a nice bearing axle for the anti-scalp wheels as well as storage wheels for vertical off-season MMM storage.

A quick action hydraulic jack and electric impact wrench are handy if you change back and forth between turf and R4 tires each on their own wheels. Get cheap at Harbor Freight.

I agree with Tollster on extra pins and clips. You need an exceptionally short pin to fit at the top link. Longer pins won't fit.

In Idaho, you need Super UDT for your on hand supply of trannie oil. If you live where it never freezes, regular UDT is much cheaper.
