Little background. I was chasing a cow and went to reverse and grinded/ground the gears and pop! Hole in the side of case. Anyways Kawasaki now sells complete motors, so I traded my dealer for one and installed it. It was a complete pain in the #@& to change out the motor. Finally last bolt, 16 hr and 10:30 at night I was ready to start it. Turn the key and the god awfullist sounds of pinging and backfiring. The starter, starter gear and reduction gear detonated. Come to find out my teryx is an '08 carburated and '09+ are efi. Different stator with no mention from factory for dealer to know. After 2 months and lots of hard feelings with kawi it's home. Dealer got them to fix it but I had to buy the stater and flywheel to make it work with an '08.
So, if anyone buys a crate engine from kawi, it is only for current models. They are now providing the same info...now. The whole reason for this is cause the military uses the teryx and needs the motor available as a part number, thereof making it available to buy a crate motor.
Gateway cycles in mt sterling ky is good people.
